I'm in a poll! Jen at Blag Hag is annoyed that the recent poll voting for the most influential/ outspoken atheists didn't have any women on the list. So she's taking a vote for the most influential female atheist of 2009. And I'm on the list!
I'm up against some stiff competition, and it is, as they say, an honor just to be nominated. But if you enjoy silly Interweb polls, go vote! And if you think I'm the most influential female atheist of 2009, go vote for me!
I already voted for you! I was the first vote, too, I think. :-)

I love you, but I had to vote for Julia Sweeney. Letting Go of God just came out on cable near the end of 2009, and this movie could make an atheist out of anyone. (The only trick is getting someone who's not already an atheist to watch it in the first place.)

Since the poll allowed me to make two choices at once, I voted for both you and Eugenie Scott. :)

This is a tough decision!
I have been talking a lot to Lyz Liddell lately.
Annie Laurie Gaylor is just excellent.
I also like Julia Sweeney.
It's a shame that Margaret Downey isn't on that list.

Voted! And you're winning at present.

The other poll had PZ in it, making it even more pointless than internet polls usually are.
I voted for Annie Laurie Gaylor.

I voted for you. You're in the lead at the moment.

Well, since PZ isn't qualified for this poll, you've got decent odds. And I'm grateful to BlagHag for pointing out some new and interesting people. I hadn't heard of quite a few on the list, but they are all worth checking out!

Ah, I already voted on that one.

Looks more like an all-too-human nut job to me.
Yes, we're keenly aware of it.
Yes.
If I thought they'd arrived at their beliefs rationally, then perhaps that might count for something. But I know they didn't.

The comment Nemo was replying to has been removed. Please, please, everybody: Do not feed the troll. Thanks.

I vote for you Greta. You've certainly been the most influential female atheist for me.

I voted for you but if Margaret Downey and Ellen Johnson woulda been on the list you'd a'had some major competition.

I voted for you. :)

Congratulations on your nomination. You're in some good company there.

You have an interesting group of followers, Greta, enthusiastic enough to read your blog but comfortable enough (nervy enough?) to tell you they voted for someone else. I, on the other hand, tested out the rather week security features of the site and voted for you twice. Not that that's ethical, but somebody had to test the system. Anyone else is of course free to verify my hypothesis on their own.

As a queer atheist feminist in a fairly right-wing state, there can be a strong sense of isolation. Eventually, though, I stumbled upon your blog, and it helped. So yeah, voted for you, as you were fairly influential to me.

I just noticed that Hemant put up what PZ would definitely call a pointless poll:
Most godless athiest
It made me laugh out loud.
(I voted for Greta at Blag Hag.)

As much as I enjoy your writing, and will gladly buy you a beverage of choice the next time we're both in the same city, the poll says "most influential", not "favorite". So I had to vote for Ariane Sherine, since I think the atheist bus campaign has touched more people than your writing has.
I could be wrong, of course.

i voted for you. because i'm trying to impress you and get you to sleep with me. ;-)
actually, the Blag Hag posts make me ashamed of myself. i hadn't heard of too many of those women. thanks for pointing me in that direction.

Annie Laurie Gaylor!

I read your blog regularly and your writing has influenced me (although I've been an atheist for about 30 years). I love your clarity.
So you've got my vote!
Keep up the awesome writing Greta Christina.
