C. L. Hanson

I found your blog because you submitted a post to a blog carnival that I hosted.

I know how you feel about the search queries, though. I love it when people come in on wacky searches and then stick around and read a bunch of posts and then become regular readers. :D

The mysterious ones are the ones that come in on image searches though because the URL doesn't tell what the query terms were that pulled up the image -- all I know is which image brought someone in. Whenever someone comes in through a picture of me (for example) I always wonder what the hell the person was searching for that brought up the image...

PZ Myers linked to you, and since I liked the post, I surfed around, and drop back from time to time.

Oh, yes, every blogger should do this "weird search string that led to my blog" entry at least once, I'm convinced.

I'm sure I found you through Susie Bright. Nothing too dramatic, I'm afraid. I do get hits at linking from this blog, and I'm grateful for that. SOMEDAY (he said, again) I will set up a column of recommended links, probably once I get a bit more traffic. Meanwhile, I am linking to my favorites within the articles -- a Trojan Horse approach, I guess.

FWIW, I think it was the Ninth & Bryant parking garage review that got me hooked on this blog. Brilliant.

I am the owner of one of the willing throats down which your blog was forced. But I have a question: How do you find out this info? I'd love to know. Is it something that you find out through TypePad or through Feedblitz or what? I use Blogger. And since I've started a new project that I think is going to reach a wider audience than my little running blog, I'd like to know how to get this info. Shameless self promotion:

"How do you find out this info?"

I get it through Typepad. Under Control Panels, Check Stats and Referrers. It tells me how many visits I've gotten each day, where they linked to me from, and if they linked through a search engine it shows me what the search parameters were. (Although as C.L. Hanson pointed out, for some reason the image searches don't give me the search parameters -- it just shows me the image that was searched for.)

I don't know whether Blogger provides this service, though.

Thanks. Blogger doesn't have that service, but I just discovered Google Analytics, which anyone can add to their site for free.

Probably work.

I work at a GLBT bookstore and I try to read the blogs of people whos books/writing we carry. Of course, I gravitate toward the blogs of the kind of writing I like (sex writing), and, of course, I gravitate towards the blogs where the writing is more introspective and less personal diary like (although there are some exceptions to that).

Anyway, I started out with a wide variety of blogs. I've now ended up with a good 4 or so I read with regularity. But there's 2 that I wait with baited breath for every day. And that's yours and Susie Bright's. You 2 write SO WELL and I always enjoy reading what you have to say. It's often times thought provoking and I find myself referencing what you have to say in my own conversations.

And I'm sad on the days you don't write anything. :-(

So, yeah, that's how I started reading your blog. I started because of a sense of duty, because I "had" to... and now I do it because I *love* to. :-)
