First of all: Nostradamus demolishes "atheism"

wait, wait...

I forgot something...

you little shits even talk about me....

Sing from the rooftops:

"Atheism is dead!"

There is a character in Salman Rushdie's little-known first novel (Grimus) who goes by the moniker "The Two-Time Kid", since his motto is "I'll try anything twice". His reasoning is much the same as yours ("Once to see if one likes it, and twice to see if one was right"), only he takes the "anything" a bit more literally, extending it to just about any practice imaginable (most of the characters in Grimus, including Two-Time Kid, happen to be immortal, so he doesn't really have to worry about risk the same way normal people would).

I don't know if this is the origin of the meme, or if Rushdie picked it up from somewhere else.

This reminds me of something my partner's wise-before-her-years daughter said, when she was about eight years old. We were out at a restaurant and I was drooling about some gorgeous mushroom pasta I'd ordered. Sophie said she'd like to try some and her mom said, "Sweetie, you've tried mushrooms before. You know you hate them." Sophie replied, "Yeah... but sometimes you have to know things twice."

It may not have been about sex, but it was the same principle. Her mom and I glanced at each other with an "Oh yeah, this one's going to be okay" look. :-)

"It may even have been that my lover let me do him first. (If "let" is the right word. "Enthusiastically proposed" was more like it.)"

Just had to say I got a chuckle out of this. Apparently I did this with my current gf a few weeks ago while drunk off my ass (insert joke here... heh, insert). Don't remember it but I seemed to have a good time :P

King Aardvark

themann1086, when my brother is drunk off his ass he gropes random girls and then can't remember it. Yours is probably better - less chance of getting slapped/arrested.

Anyway, Greta, this is very good advice for all situations.
